I Should Have Left Long Ago

Since I was a little boy, I've always wanted to be in California. I've recently taken steps to make that a possibility. Over the years, I've made excuse after excuse as to why it wouldn't happen. And I fuckin' believed the excuses I came up with instead of finding a way to make it happen. Recent events have made me decide it's time for change.

My recent health scares have surprisingly had little to do with it. I know I can find some sort of healthcare in California. However, I need to find a place in which I can be happy. A couple weeks ago, I interviewed at a sister station in Sacramento, California. I still haven't heard anything from them. Regardless, I will be out of Iowa sooner than later. I don't know where, but somewhere.

Some of you know I had solar panels installed on my house. I got my federal tax credit, but the State of Iowa rejected mine because there wasn't enough money. They didn't even look at my application. Year after year, I end up owing the State taxes. I'm far from satisfied with how the State has been spending that money I pay to them. It's not going to change because the rural areas in Iowa will always vote against their interests and mine. I've tried to vote for candidates that will help them and me, but they vote for candidates that try to control other people's decision such as abortions. It's bullshit. The State of Iowa is bullshit. I've never known it to be a good state.

The people are more selfish than what the media portrays. They're stuck in their own world, and if it doesn't happen in their world, it never happens according to them. Don't get me wrong; there are some good people. However, the bad outweighs the good, and that's the sign I need to leave. Iowa doesn't know how to run it's affairs. That's why most of the work they need done, such as construction, they hire outside of the state. They did it even for the state capitol building that is constantly surrounded by scaffolding. Everyone calls it a beautiful building, but it's really just a building that needs constant maintenance. The gold dome is basically gold foil and a waste of money because it constantly needs repairs. Why they thought gold foil was a good idea for a building in a place where the winters get brutal is beyond me.

The State of Iowa has proven to be extremely racist. When the BLM protests happened, their true colors showed, but don't try to tell them that. They're angels. When the shootings at East High School in Des Moines, Iowa happened, the governor's first words? She blamed the schools. The schools that she constantly cuts funding from. The schools that she has neglected for years. Let's make one thing clear; I don't know what the solution to shootings is. However, I know it's not to place blame. Maybe, for once, we could just listen to the kids. These kids involved in the shooting weren't white. If they were, you bet your ass that instead of blaming the schools, we'd hear the governor giving some cheesy speech of how they were mentally ill or something. You know, mentally ill, the same issue she has vetoed bills that tried to provide help for those mentally ill. She's not a solution; she is the problem.

Iowa is more worried about being first in the caucuses that they screw up every year. Republicans blame Democrats, and Democrats blame Republicans. Truth is they're both at fault. That's all Iowa is. It's one big blame game. They don't need to be first. They have no sway in the elections whatsoever. 6 electoral votes. That's all they have. Oooo scary. Iowa is one of the whitest states in the United States. It's time another state goes first.

So now, you know why I want to leave Iowa. I hope to hear something soon about a job. If I don't get this job, I will make a plan to move. It might not be California at first, but it will be at some point.
