Has It REALLY Been 3 Months?!

23rd of August 2022

Work (both jobs) has kept me very busy this summer. This seems to happen every summer though. I try to make plans, but I let work get in the way of doing those things. I get exhausted beyond belief, and all I do is lay around the house that needs cleaned. It's not enough that I work 2 jobs, but I miss out on people I actually care about. There are a few things I was able to do in the summer, but I had to cut my spending drastically if I want to move to California. And I do.

My trip to California helped me find something I haven't had in a long time. I can't remember the last time I felt that happiness. My fear is that it won't last long, but I have to take my chances. I've more than out-grown Iowa. I will miss some things about Iowa, but not a lot. I will miss some people, but not a lot. I've done lots of searching this year because I'm too old to live in misery. The shirt I and Ron Simmons are wearing pretty much sums up my summer.

The station is implementing changes I cannot talk about, and that's caused me to work lots of overtime. The plus side is the money. I've saved lots of it, but I've incurred expenses along the way to make it seem meaningless. I changed my second job to a local brewery in hopes of making more money than the other one paid. So far, it's great. My feet and back hurt like crazy afterwards, but it's worth it. It keeps me active, and so far, I enjoy it.

At the station, I work as a photojournalist on Sundays. It has it's ups and downs. The ups: I can be out of the control room for a time. The downs: sometimes, the stories aren't what I want to do, but beggars can't be choosers. Also, the gear I take isn't consistent. There's no organization to it whatsoever. However, for the most part, I enjoy it, and I'm happy that I keep progressing.

I did get to do some fun things such as going to CEW Bridge City Slam in Oskaloosa. I met Ron Simmons (pictured above), Bushwhacker Luke, Ted Dibiase, and Victoria/Tara (picture left). That was a fun night. I had front row, and I didn't have much of a voice afterwards. I normally don't do that because I need my voice for work. I dropped a lot of money that night, but it was worth it. I grew up watching all of them. To meet them was a childhood dream come true. Especially Ron Simmons. I remember watching him win the WCW Heavy weight Championship. I've always loved watching him wrestle. He's always been a positive influence, and I was just star struck when it got to be my turn. He loved that I was wearing his shirt, and he even signed it. That shirt is since retired. No way I'm wearing it again. That has to be number one on my list

of wrestlers I've met. King Haku is number two.

I'm hoping when I move to California that my summers aren't so packed with work. I'll have to get a second job there as well, and I'll hope to work at a brewery. I'll have lots to prepare for, and I have a list. The standard stuff, of course, but I have plans to experience California. I can't wait to call California home.
