Be American: What Do You Mean?

21st of October 2021

I hear the expression all the time: "We don't need to be African American, Asian American, Native American or whatever American. We need to be just American." What do people mean by that?

First, we'll look at who's saying this. The most people I hear this from have no culture. They drink loads until they can't remember pissing in their underwear drawer. They listen to bigoted music of all types. They have only one friend that isn't white so they feel they can claim they're not racist. They are the people that don't want everyone to be American: they want us to believe what they believe. And if we don't believe what they believe, we can leave the country. I don't know if they know this, but they can leave, too.

This past Monday was Christopher Columbus Day to the racist who see nothing wrong with genocide or rape. Those who have common sense know it as Indigenous People Day. I guess it's the white government's way of trying to make things right with the Native American people. If they really wanted to make things right, the government would give back their land. They'd stop sabotaging the lands that they hold sacred like their burial grounds. What would people say if someone started digging up Arlington National Cemetery? People would riot in an outrage.

The United States of America has a habit of racism, and another habit of deny that racism exists still to this day. They have a habit of trying to justifying wrongs such as the dropping of the atomic bombs, taking land from the Native Americans, slavery, the Confederacy, the January 6th storming of the US Capitol (which had never been attacked like that since the War of 1812), George Floyd's death, the list goes on and on. These travesties happened and still happen. It's American to say "it's ok as long as it benefits me."

Judging by the actions of society, being American is to be selfish. That's all I see from people. "Abortion is wrong." Fine, don't get one. Don't tell anyone else what they can or cannot do. Especially if you're a man trying to control a woman's health.

In all, it might just be the midwest, and I may need to get out more rather than looking at Facebook and the news. However, people just get on my nerves.
