CoronaVirus Not to be Taken Lightly

12th of March 2020

For a couple months now, coronavirus has been all over the news. Many events have been cancelled because of the virus. The NCAA Basketball Tournament will be played, but it will be without fans (which I'm fine with because I find NCAA fans annoying). NBA has suspended play until further notice. Many concerts have been cancelled as well. This virus has caused a stock market constantly dropping big numbers as well.

This isn't going to be an information based article because I don't work in the medical field. I will not risk giving out false information. If you want FACTS on the coronavirus, get them ON THIS LINK HERE.

The best way to avoid getting the coronavirus is by simple hygiene upkeep (washing hands, covering mouth when coughing and sneezing). I've debated shaving my beard until the virus is contained. We'll see. If it's not contained by summer, I'll shave it. However, there's also washing hands and showers or baths. It sounds simple, but people aren't doing it. These are the people I blame for the continued rising cases in coronavirus. Yesterday at the bar, I had to remind a humanoid to wash his hands. Keep in mind that this is a bar where only people over 21 can get in. Nobody over 21 should have to be reminded to wash there hands. At the news station, I worked with one guy who always had this disgusting cough. He never covered his mouth, so he coughed over ALL the equipment. His germs fly ALL over the area around him. He was disgusting to work with because he had no consideration for others. I called him out on is and got excuse after excuse. I never bought any of them. There was nothing done with him, but he finally quit, which is good. He was useless. He had one simple job, and he couldn't even do THAT one right. Now, maybe it will be cleaner around the station.

People want to think that this is just a ploy brought up around election time. I can't explain that, but regardless, the virus has made it's way to the United States. It doesn't matter what time of year it came around. Even during pandemics, we can't come together.

The common thing I see of these viruses that cause pandemics is that they can best be avoided by simple hygiene maintenance listed above. However, not everyone is practicing healthy hygiene. Keeping up on hygiene won't guarantee not getting the virus. EVERYONE has to do their part, and that's how people get the virus. So when someone is practicing healthy habits of good hygiene and gets the virus, they may feel like they didn't do enough. However, they did. It was the idiot that coughs everywhere (my former coworker) or neglects washing their hands (the humanoid I had to remind after using the bathroom). In this day and age, people hate adulting. I get it, but this is the time where we need to be adults. We need to wash our hands. We need to cover our mouths when we sneeze or cough. We shouldn't be doing this when these illnesses become a pandemic. It should be an every day practice. I'm not a medical expert, but I did pay attention in Biology. Viruses evolve just like humans did. They become stronger over time. With everyone doing their part to help stop the spread, this virus could be less of a threat. However, I feel that people are more selfish nowadays. Keep in mind that we don't have a vaccination for this virus yet.
