What Should I Talk About? The Gym, Why Not?
16th of February 2018
I'm not even sure what to talk about, which is weird since I've been so busy at work. I've been busy outside of work, but it's nothing exciting. I keep myself busy at the gym and around the house. I won't talk about the recent shooting in Florida because I just feel it falls on deaf ears. I'm not sure what the solution to that problem is, but I don't think more guns will solve the problem.
Hell, I'll just talk about the gym. I love the gym. When I get up, it's hard because I want to just go back to bed. However, once I get there, I get to work. I try to make the most of my time there as well. The gym I go to (Anytime Fitness on 300 MLK in Des Moines) has a validation parking system. So after 2 hours, I have to move my car around. Yes, I spend more than 2 hours there. I start out with lifting sometimes, and then I do a little cardio. I rest for a bit, and then I move my car around before group session training. For lifting, I have a program that a friend of mine introduced me to. He found another program that he wanted to do because he was at a plateau. I stuck with the one he introduced me to, but at some point, I put off lifting and only did cardio and the group sessions. I just recently started that program again. I can't stop lifting now. The program calls for a day of rest in between, but I have yet to take a rest day from it. I want to get back to where I was when I stopped lifting. At some point, I'll switch up my lifting regime, but until then, I want to get my form down.
As for cardio, I switched back and forth between the elliptical and the lateral machine. I love the lateral machine and stick with it the most. In fact, I go to the same machine and even named it Buster. I was introduced to EMOM (Every Minute On the Minute) as well, and I did that a few times. That form of cardio is intense. I get a rush after I finish it. EMOMs feel like they take forever, but they're really not. I only did them one time in a setting. Next time, I may opt to do 3 10 minute sets instead of just one.
In addition to exercising more, I watch what I eat a lot more as well. I'm not eating out as much as I used to. I don't have the money to go out, and I make healthier choices when I don't go out. I eat more vetegables, and I make them taste great. I even made my own concoction of a shake, if you will. I'm not sure of the nutrition of it, but it's got to be better than what I had been doing. It's only 4 ingredients. If anything, it might be a little high in sugar.
I do take preworkout as well, and it has no sugar. I have no idea where the rush comes from. I also take a protein powder to help as well.
I know I talk a lot about the gym, but it has changed me in a positive way. I feel great going in, and I walk out feeling great until I realize I have to go to work next. Talking about what I do helps me think of ways to get to my goals without cutting corners. Everyone at the gym is awesome. They don't judge at all. They actually are very encouraging. The staff is awesome as well. I understand why people are intimidated to go, but the people I've ran into have been very supportive. I don't feel I could have found a better gym. Now if they could only get the tire flip machine.
