2017: Did We Skip It?!
31st of December 2017
The year 2017 seemed to go by fast. I can't remember a lot that happened this year outside of the jokes coming out of Washington DC. I know lots has happened this year, but where did it all go? It seems like yesterday I rang in 2017, but today I'm ringing in 2018. How fast the time goes indeed.
This past year hasn't been bad, but it wasn't necessarily good either. I'm in more debt thanks to my air conditioner going out, and I struggle financially. I have to watch my money like a hawk more so than ever before. Things will get better in the financial world though. I've made too much progress over the years to let it get out of control again. Besides, I still have a roof over my head.
I've lost weight in 2017, and I will do my best to keep it all off. I continue to go to the gym to stay active. I also get advice on what to do to get more energy and just plain get better. The gym has been a great thing in my life. If it wasn't so cold in Iowa, I would bike to work every day. However, today it's -9 outside. Frostbite is just a small worry in this weather.
I've done more runs this year than I've ever done ending the year with 11. It would have been 12, but the Race for the Cure didn't give me packet pick-up information. I won't do many walks in 2018 because they do cost quite a bit for registration. I will still do some that are dear to me such as the Heart Walk for American Heart Association, the Underwear Run put on by Lazer 103.3 and the Super Hero Run. The Color Run and any runs of those sorts are going to be put on the back burner. However, I will never do the Foam Glow again.
In closing, 2017 wasn't a bad year. It was full of some stressful times, but it was also full of some good times. The trip to Sioux City. The runs I did. The baseball games I rode my bike to. There's countless memories to talk about. In 2018, I'm going to do better to live in the moment. I feel like if I do that, 2018 won't feel like it slipped away.
