Iowa Cubs 5K Family Fun Run
30th of May 2017
Ok, I'm done with the cold runs. It's May, and the weather should be nice. This run was met with cold weather in the upper 40's warming up to lower 50's even for the game afterwards. Next run I have scheduled is the Color Run, but I know that the Underwear Run will likely take place before that. Both are in July. I hope that it won't be as cold. I know it won't be, but I didn't think this one would be. However, organizers can't plan for the weather all the time. Especially since they probably thought it would be nicer in May as well. Aside from the weather, the run was ok. It was a good way for me to not only got off my ass, but it was a good way for me to get a free ticket to an Iowa Cubs game (general admission came in handy for this which I'll explain later). Even though it was cold out, I still rode my bike to the ballpark. I was too lazy to drive. With driving, I'd have to find a parking spot, walk from there, remember where I parked when all is said and done; I just didn't want to go through that. Riding wasn't too bad because the wind hadn't picked up yet. It even died down when I went back home. There wasn't a lot of people participating in this run, and I'm not sure why. I'm not sure if this is an annual thing or if this is the first year for it. However, I had fun with it. The course was easy enough. We started by the rightfield fence, went to Gray's Lake and back. I did cut my time down a little, so that's a plus. What wasn't a plus was game time. At first, a family was behind me, which didn't bother me until the kid kept kicking my chair and even my ass at times. I politely asked him to stop, and the father looked at me and said "He's fine." I'm a man who doesn't like confrontation, especially at a ballgame. I didn't want this to just pass over either. So, I let off this Andre the Giant sized fart, and they left. Yes, I got looks and a little jaw from them, but I also got peace and quiet. However, it wouldn't end there. Another family came by and sat next to me, and the son was just all over the place. This parent at least tried her best with him. He was climbing all over the place, on his seat, his mother, the railing, anything. He ran into me a few times as well, but I was nicer to him than the other one. This one looked like he had attention deficit disorder or something. I didn't say anything, but when he would put his hand on my leg to climb on the railing, I moved it. Parents, keep your kids to yourself. On that note, have a good day.
