It's Cheaper to Die Than to Live
12th of April 2017
What happened to the times when we had enough money AFTER bills? Was there ever such a time? It seems like every time I get my financial affairs in order, one bill goes up. Then another, and so on. It's ridiculous. It seems like the only rate that's NOT going up is income.
My mortgage payment went up almost $200 a month. When I rented, I've never had rent go up that much. If I remember correctly, the most my rent ever went up was $20. Ok, $20 isn't much, but it was still upsetting. However, the government has laws going up super-high. I don't get how the government can make those laws and break them by raising property taxes. They raise the property tax because they're lacking money from the major cuts that they voted on in session. So where is this money going? Maybe this is just a rant (for the most part, yes, it is), but the American Dream is more like an American Nightmare unless you're rich. Don't get me wrong. I think everyone should pay their fair share. However, it seems like everything goes up for the middle class (and I'm barely middle class). I have to find a way to make ends meet on a very low pay. I know, that's life. However, did it used to be like this? No. People could afford to pay their mortgage and other bills more so then than now. In the meantime, we're cutting programs that can help people because nobody wants to help people. This society has gotten very heartless over the years. If you voted to cut these programs or the budgets for them, you're part of the problem.
Now, the mentally ill won't get the treatment that they need because funding is next to nonexistent for the program. We have many kids left behind in the education systems because "they need to learn the language." Some of these kids speak better English than those demanding the official language be English. This country is suffering from a bad case of stupidity. There's no nice way of putting it. What kills me is everywhere I go, I keep hearing the term "Iowa Nice" being thrown around, yet Steve King is our representative. I never want to hear "Iowa Nice" again while he, Grassley or Ernst are in office. Also, if "Iowa Nice" was really in existence, the Stand Your Ground law wouldn't be needed. However, it's on it's way to becoming law.
In a world where I grew up believing a life of happiness is possible and affordable has turned out to be just a myth. As of now, it's cheaper for me to die than it is to live. I have my funeral planned financially. My expenses are sorted out, and my plot is picked out and paid. I'll only have to do it once, and to be honest, at this point, I'd rather die than have to live like this. The problem is I know others have it worse than I do. However, I don't believe it should be this hard. When I die, I know someone else will live in my house. My car will be driven by someone else. My job will be filled, or at least my duties will be absorbed (this is more likely to happen). My school loans will be forgiven. I have no other debt. I would much rather die than live a life just to pay a bunch of bills just so some rich jerk can live to do absolutely nothing. I'm not suicidal. I won't hurt myself. I do have my own death wish. If I found out that I had cancer or anything terminal, I wouldn't fight it. I'm just going to let things take it's course and enjoy the rest of my time. The way things are now is not what we should be leaving for the future. This is what generations ahead of us warned us about. Oh, and if you voted for Trump, King, Grassley, Ernst or Branstad, you stink a lot!!
