The Blah Time of the Year
28th of December 2016
This time of year seems to be the most calm. Right after the Christmas holiday, people get ready for the new year. At work, a lot of people (mostly management) are still on vacation, and some people are still working. However, work is the least stressful during that week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Everyone takes his or her time on everything that they're doing, and everyone is at peace. Sure, there's still troubles in that time, but it doesn't seem to get as intense as other times during the year.
This is the time of year is a perfect time to reflect on what happened over the past year. It's the perfect time to think about what to do to improve ourselves and our surroundings to achieve that inter peace that we all desire. It's that time to say that "I survived another year. I had some good times, and I had some bad. Let's do it again." Going into the new year, we can look at it as a do-over. We can't change what we did in the past, but we can change our actions to bring peace to everyone around us. We should be thinking about others around us, which in turn will make our own surroundings more enjoyable. Say hi to a stranger. Use common courtesy. Help a charity in some way. Seize the day. In this downtime, we should think about how we're going to do that. In 2016, I can't say it was a bad year. For the most part, I didn't have a bad year. It was a rougher ending than I would have liked, but I still feel I prevailed. Most people are basing this year off of how many celebrities have died. While their deaths are sad and as much as they will be missed (whether people liked them or not), we can't call it a bad year on just that alone. Death is a part of life that, while we find it difficult to deal with, we still must deal with it. Besides, basing it on celebrities alone leaves out other people who have made his or her difference in this world. Remember the ones we've lost. Remember the good times. If we do that, it's like they never left.
