We Are Divided....And We're Falling

9th of November 2016

The elections are over, and regardless of who won, I would still be disappointed. But let's remember that FIRST part of that last sentence. THE ELECTIONS ARE OVER. Time to move onto more important things.

Looking at my Facebook feed, there are a lot of people posting negative statuses. I've tried to unfollow as much as I can. However, my hand is getting tired from clicking the mouse so much. We will never see eye to eye. That's always been true. Everybody HAS to get his or her way. There's lots of pouting and complaining on my feed. I would have seen it regardless of who won. This country is full of a bunch of babies on all sides. Some people are saying they're moving out of the country. I guess that's why divorce rates are up so high. Everybody gives up on what they love.

Well, NOT ME! Whether the winner would have been Hillary, I would still do what I can to make the United States a better place. Since Trump is the winner, I will do just that; make this a better place. Not just for me, but for everyone around the country. I don't doubt either candidates' love for this country, but I'm not sure which direction either of them want to go. Either way, I have an obligation to do my part. I don't know what that part is, but I know I won't stand for people to be held back for bullshit reasons. As much as I say I will stand behind the winner, I will not call him Mr. President. I wouldn't call Clinton Madam President if she had won. If people had a problem calling President Obama Mr. President, don't get on me about not calling Trump by that name.

I know people are upset, but if you choose to be upset for a while, it's going to be a long four years. You're going to miss out on a lot of good memories to be made. This election has ended a lot of friendships over the course of 2 years. That shouldn't happen. We can get along. I have a lot of differences with friends, but we just don't talk about them unless we need to. It's not hiding our feelings as much as it's agreeing to disagree. I know we hate compromise, but it seems that we have to start to learn to do it.

If we want to live in a better place, we have to work together to make it a better place. We need to listen to understand and not listen to reply. I've worked with a lot of people from different places be it in college or at a job. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here. They helped shape my work ethic and appreciation of other cultures. Give people a chance and extend a hand of friendship instead of clinching a fist of rage or clinching it to point a finger placing blame. Again, I didn't want Trump to be elected. However, he was, so now it's time to fight for our country, culture and compassion.
