When it Rains, Get Wet With Others
20th of July 2016
Life: the journey we never were asked to take, but we have to take it anyway. On the journey, we come across different obstacles. Some are harder than others, but a person must find the willpower inside him or herself to continue. It's easier said than done, but how else does everyone survive?
I'm the only one that likes the rain. I invite it every chance. Of course, I don't want it to flood my basement, but that's a challenge I can overcome. What I can't overcome is a flood so great that I get caught in the waters and drown. We all have our situations, and we might even be in similar situations with other people. Nowadays, I don't see the helping hands I used to. When the Floods of 93 happened, everyone was helping everyone. Nobody was left behind. People have grown a cold shoulder to others, and that scares me. I'm going to need help when I get older, but I don't know who to rely on. The best I'll be able to do is assisted living. I want to help people, but I find it hard to help those who don't want to help themselves. When they don't want to help themselves, I've found out the hard way that they take me down with them. Maybe that's why when it rains, everyone runs for shelter instead of trying to shelter everyone else.
I'm not saying that I won't help anyone. I will, but I want them to pull their weight as well. I can't pull the wagon through the muddy path while it's still raining. Eventually, I get tired and cranky and pissed that I'm the only one pulling. So what do we do to be more helpful to others? I only wish I knew the answer. In many cases, I think we should help anyone who needs it, but yet when do you put your umbrella up? How much of the umbrella do you share with others? Do you bother to share the umbrella? I found that the answer to that is don't carry an umbrella. I'm one who will get dirty or wet. Clothes dry and get clean. If they don't get clean, there's more clothes in my dresser and closet or at the store. However, that doesn't mean I'm not looking for shelter. I try to help others finding shelter, but if they're worried that they left their phone in the car, they're getting drenched worse than me.
