Wizard World 2015: It's Magic
17th of June 2015
I only went on Sunday for the Wizard World Comic Con in Des Moines over the weekend. That was plenty for me. I was skeptical at first because I normally don't like to pay admission for events just to spend money at other booths (Iowa State Fair, etc.). However, Wizard World offered more than just buying memorabilia. Yes, celebrities were there to sign autographs (some for a high price), but if the cliche "the people make the event" was made for one in particular, this event was it. Everyone there was very nice, and I had my picture taken with many in costume. It was pretty awesome and unheard of to me. I have a plan for next year's Wizard World Comic Con. I'm going in with a list of characters to get my picture taken with. Some people were very creative with their costumes. Since I'm a rookie at this, I went with the Kelly Kapowski shirt you see in the picture up top.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to do there because I wasn't totally sure I knew what I was getting myself into. I did meet Jason Mewes, who is best known for playing Jay in the Jay & Silent Bob movies. He was very cool to talk to, and he even mingled with everyone walking around the booths.
I don't know what I would do to improve it because I had a good time. I also don't know what to expect from these either. I did feel the autographs and pictures were a bit much, but other than that, everything ran smoothly. Lines moved fast, and I felt everyone was respectful towards others. Ladies, you all looked good out there. I can't wait until next year. I'll probably only do one day again. I know what to prepare for this time, and I may need to get a bunch of frames beforehand.
